Yemen is an Arab country in the Middle East, bordering the Persian Gulf to the south and the Red Sea to the east. The capital is in the city of Sanaa. It is an important country in the Arab world, in terms of population and area, as well as in terms of economic and political influence.

The most important events in the history of the country are the founding of the Arab Empire in 705 AD, the Caliphate of Córdoba, the Mongol invasion, the Ottoman Empire, the British Empire, the Arab–Israeli War, the Piedmontese domination, the independence of Lebanon, the Iraqi–Kurdish conflict, and the Civil War.

The most important religions in the country are Islam, Judaism, and Christianity.
